Coronavirus: the world of sports increasingly worried
Paris (France) (AFP) - The world of sport in uncertainty.Several new cancellations, postponements and other packages as a precaution, caused by the epidemic of new coronavirus, again came to disrupt the sports calendar on Thursday, raising fears for the holding of the next major international meetings.
Early Thursday afternoon, the Italy-England Six Nations Tournament match scheduled for Rome on March 14 has been postponed indefinitely.
This is the second postponement of the Tournament postponed, after the one initially scheduled for Saturday March 7 in Dublin between Ireland and Italy, where the first European focus of the Covid-19 epidemic is located, which has taken place in this country 107 dead for more than 3,000 cases.
The announcement was made the day after the measures decided by the Italian government to fight against the spread of the epidemic on the peninsula. In order to avoid as many gatherings and crowds as possible, the authorities published a decree on Wednesday that all competitions sports, including Serie A football matches, will be held behind closed doors until April 3.
But several organizers of sporting events have taken the initiative to go even further, in the name of the precautionary principle.
The Paris marathon, which was to bring together around 60,000 registrants on April 5, has been postponed to October 18, announced the organizer Amaury Sport Organization (ASO), which had already made the decision last weekend to cancel the semi- marathon in the streets of the capital.

The Strade Bianche cycling race, scheduled for Saturday in Siena, was purely and simply canceled after a meeting between the organizers and the local authorities.
This decision also comes after the package in the last two days of several teams, such as Mitchelton, EF, Jumbo, and Groupama-FDJ, wishing to protect their cyclists from possible risks of contamination.
